Brewery Logistics Manager

The primary objective is to oversee the logistics operations at the Depot, ensuring efficient and cost-effective warehousing and transportation functions. This role aligns with the T2 Logistics Strategy and the Distribution Process Optimisation initiative.

Core responsibilities and duties include:

Safety


Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
Maintain adherence to Department of Labour stacking exemption
Uphold site housekeeping standards
Lead the Safety, Health and Environmental Committee
Guarantee compliance with all relevant legislation
Execute strategies to enhance lead indicator measures and improve safety behavior
Mitigate and manage health and safety risks


Human Resource Management


Communicate and ensure understanding of the Company's Vision, Mission, Values, and strategic goals
Implement the Company's Performance Management philosophy and principles
Contribute to Training needs analysis for sustainability and continuity


Key duties and obligations:


Provide mentorship and coaching to foster continuous improvement and high performance
Maintain a positive industrial relations climate
Coordinate rosters for adequate operational coverage
Monitor employee punctuality and attendance
Oversee SAP time and attendance administration
Develop engagement plans and set challenging KPIs for direct reports
Ensure employee familiarity with relevant business information, policies, and procedures
Align with Distribution Process Optimisation (DPO)


Personnel Administration


Spearhead DPO implementation within logistics
Collaborate with site pillar specialists to develop and execute plans for key DPO areas
Ensure full adherence to Logistics DPO Handbook
Promote social system support
Foster an environment conducive to cross-functional learning and integration


Key responsibilities and duties


Conduct regular team meetings to assess performance and ensure achievement of objectives
Provide support to cross-functional Administrators


Third-party management


Oversee contractors' performance against Service Level agreements
Ensure contractor alignment with business strategy
Cultivate an engaging environment to foster business partnerships
Continuously engage contractors to maximize productivity responsibly
Minimize temporary service provider usage and manage within legal frameworks


Attainment of customer service objectives


Develop business plans in accordance with relevant guidelines
Communicate and execute business plans with relevant stakeholders
Analyze customer service results and develop strategies to widen competitive advantage
Participate in focus group activities to gather customer insights and implement necessary changes
Review business processes for alignment with overall strategy
Maintain product quality and engage relevant stakeholders


Key duties and responsibilities

Achievement of customer service objectives


Address customer complaints effectively and ensure corrective actions
Align customer DSPs with activities and communicate changes
Oversee On-day, On-time, In-full aspects of customer service


Financial Administration


Create and manage operational budgets and forecasts for warehouse resources
Reduce overtime and temporary employee usage
Monitor expenditure against budgets and forecasts
Approve expenditures in line with Procurement to Payment policy
Identify internal and external financial optimization opportunities
Conduct weekly reviews of general ledger accounts
Analyze monthly financial performance and implement corrective measures as needed


Efficient Fleet Management


Collaborate with fleet suppliers to maintain optimal uptime
Ensure compliance with road traffic legislation
Perform regular fleet inspections as per guidelines
Monitor fleet key performance indicators and implement improvement plans
Ensure optimal fleet-mix suitable for terrain
Maintain fleet appearance to uphold company image
Oversee fleet service provider SLAs
Engage temporary fleet service providers and establish SLAs


Governance


Manage company assets according to policies and procedures
Review and approve internal governance processes
Conduct monthly stock counts as per Inventory management procedures
Review bulk handling contracts for relevance
Inventory & Warehouse Operation Management
Perform random truck counts to monitor internal control effectiveness
Supervise operational warehouse activities to ensure stock availability and quality


Key responsibilities and duties


Manage DOC and working capital
Monitor returns to issues and weeks in trade
Ensure implementation of inventory management processes
Understand inventory postings to manage gains and losses
Maintain effective communication across all operational areas
Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements


Minimum Qualifications:


Relevant 3-year tertiary degree/diploma, preferably in Supply Chain or Logistics
3+ years experience in an operational FMCG or similar environment
3+ years experience in a warehousing setting
Proven ability to engage and motivate people
Experience in managing IR issues and demonstrated conflict resolution skills
Capability to analyze data and provide recommendations
Familiarity with shipping, freight, and forwarding practices
Understanding of financial and legal requirements for exporting, VAT, EXCISE, Letters of Credit, Consignment Sales, etc
Knowledge of RSA Export administration requirements
Understanding of banking rates, exchange control, and currency exchange rates
Basic electronic bookkeeping knowledge (via SAP)
Strong budgeting skills (costs and revenue)
Ability to negotiate commercial agreements
Basic understanding of contract law and international trading
Familiarity with SAB Brands and packs, especially those for export
Advanced proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
