Job Summary
The Cashier is responsible for processing customer payments accurately and efficiently while providing excellent customer service.
The role involves handling cash, card, and electronic payments, issuing receipts, balancing daily transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring that all financial transactions comply with company policies.
Key ResponsibilitiesReceive and process payments through cash, POS terminals, bank transfers, and other approved payment methods.
Issue receipts, invoices, and payment confirmations to customers.
Accurately record all sales transactions in the Point of Sale (POS) system.
Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.
Prepare and submit daily sales and cash reconciliation reports.
Ensure all transactions are accurately accounted for with minimal errors.
Respond professionally to customer inquiries regarding bills, payments, and pricing.
Coordinate with service staff to resolve billing discrepancies promptly.
Maintain confidentiality of financial information and customer payment details.
Report cash shortages, overages, or suspicious transactions immediately to management.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional cashier station.
Assist with administrative duties as assigned.
Comply with company financial procedures, internal controls, and audit requirements.
QualificationsMinimum of OND, SSCE, or equivalent qualification.
A certificate in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is an added advantage.
At least 1–2 years of experience as a cashier in a restaurant, hotel, retail outlet, or similar establishment.
Experience using POS systems and electronic payment terminals is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:Strong numerical and cash-handling skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Basic computer proficiency, especially with POS systems and Microsoft Office.
