Job Summary
A Consumer Lending Officer in a bank is responsible for guiding clients through the loan application process, ensuring that both the bank's requirements and the customers' needs are met.
They play a critical role in ensuring that loans are granted to individuals who are most likely to repay them based on their financial standing.
The day-to-day tasks of a Consumer Lending Officer can vary depending on the type of loan being processed—whether it is a mortgage, car loan, personal loan, or business financing.
ResponsibilitiesEvaluating Loan Applications: Carefully assess loan applications to determine the applicant's eligibility. This involves reviewing credit reports, employment history, income, debts, and other financial information to evaluate the applicant's ability to repay the loan.
Advising Clients on Loan Options: Explain the different loan products available to customers. Help clients understand the features, benefits, interest rates, repayment terms, and associated fees of each loan option so they can make informed financial decisions.
Processing and Underwriting Loans: Work with underwriters to process and approve loan applications after determining eligibility. This includes verifying applicant information, obtaining the required documentation, and ensuring compliance with banking policies and regulatory requirements.
Providing Guidance to Borrowers: Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the loan application process by answering clients' questions about loan terms, repayment options, and financial obligations. Ensure customers fully understand the commitments involved before accepting a loan.
RequirementsInterested candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree or HND with 1 - 5 work experience.
SalaryN150,000 per month.
