We are looking for a creative, dependable and hands-on individual to help us communicate the MBIS experience effectively and consistently across our digital platforms.

About The Role

We are seeking a creative, reliable and proactive Digital Media & Communications Officer to take responsibility for the school’s day-to-day digital content and social media presence. This is a practical content-creation role, not a purely strategic or desk-based marketing position. The successful candidate will work fully on-site, Monday to Friday, and will be actively involved in school life — capturing photographs and videos, creating graphics, editing Reels, writing captions, planning content and publishing consistently. We are looking for someone who can take content from idea to publication without constant direction, and who naturally notices opportunities to tell the MBIS story.

The role will help showcase:

Teaching and learning at MBIS Pupil achievements and experiences School events and activities Facilities and the learning environment Staff and school community Admissions and school opportunities The distinctive experience of being an MBIS pupil

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & School Life:

Create attractive, professional and engaging graphics using Canva. Photograph and record appropriate school activities, events, pupils’ work and everyday moments. Create and edit engaging short-form videos and Reels using CapCut. Produce content that communicates the MBIS experience effectively to current and prospective families. Create content around teaching, learning, enrichment activities, school facilities, pupil achievements and special events. Attend and document school events, celebrations, performances, sports activities and other important occasions. Identify spontaneous opportunities for authentic school content. Maintain an organised library of quality photographs, videos, graphics and other digital assets. Repurpose existing content creatively across different platforms. Ensure all visual content reflects the quality and professional standards of MBIS.

Social Media & Communications:

Manage and maintain MBIS social media platforms, particularly Instagram and Facebook. Plan and publish regular posts, Stories and Reels. Develop and maintain a practical weekly content calendar. Write clear, engaging and professional captions. Monitor comments, messages and engagement. Respond appropriately to basic enquiries received through social media and direct detailed or specialised enquiries to the appropriate member of staff. Support communication of school announcements, activities, events and important updates. Work with school leadership and relevant staff to obtain accurate information and content. Translate school activities and achievements into engaging digital content for current and prospective families. Identify opportunities to increase organic reach and engagement. Maintain a consistent MBIS brand identity across digital platforms. Monitor basic social media performance and identify content that performs particularly well.

Content Planning & Organisation:

Maintain a simple and effective weekly content plan. Plan content around the academic calendar, events, campaigns and admissions priorities. Work ahead of key events and prepare content where possible. Ensure important school events and achievements are not overlooked from a content perspective. Maintain organised digital files for photographs, videos, graphics and other content. Ensure content is created and published within agreed timelines. Proactively identify gaps in the school’s digital presence and suggest appropriate content. Maintain appropriate confidentiality when handling information relating to pupils, families and staff.

Requirements

Education & Experience:

A Bachelor’s Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Marketing, Communications, Media, Digital Marketing, Mass Communication, Public Relations or a related field is preferred. 2 years of practical experience in social media management, content creation, digital communications, marketing or a related role is desirable. However, we are more interested in demonstrated practical ability than impressive job titles or academic qualifications. Candidates with relevant qualifications or equivalent practical experience will be considered. Exceptional candidates without a directly related degree may also be considered where they can demonstrate strong practical ability and an excellent portfolio.

We are looking for someone who is:

Creative and visually minded. Reliable and consistent. Proactive and observant. Highly organised. Professional and mature. Able to work independently. Comfortable working around young children in a school environment. Confident approaching staff and appropriately capturing school activities. Able to manage deadlines without constant supervision. Comfortable receiving feedback and making improvements. Able to communicate professionally and appropriately in a school environment. Most importantly, you should be someone who notices good content opportunities and acts on them.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate practical ability in:

Canva CapCut. Instagram. Facebook. Mobile photography. Mobile videography. Short-form video and Reels. Social media content planning. Basic copywriting and caption writing.

Knowledge of the following will be an advantage:

Your Portfolio Matters:

Your portfolio will carry significant weight in our selection process. Applicants should provide examples of previous work, which may include:

Canva designs. Instagram / Facebook posts. Reels or short-form videos. Photography. Videography. Social media pages managed or contributed to. Campaigns or digital content created for previous employers, businesses or organisations.

We want to see what you can actually create. We would rather hire someone with a modest CV who can produce excellent content than someone with impressive job titles who cannot demonstrate practical ability.

Safeguarding:

This role involves working around children and creating photographic and video content within the school. The successful candidate must comply with MBIS safeguarding, photography, privacy and confidentiality policies at all times.

Practical Assessment:

This is a hands-on role, and shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a practical content-creation task to demonstrate their ability in areas such as Canva, CapCut, photography/video, caption writing and social media content planning.
