 Job Title: Finance Officer

Location: Palmgrove, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Finance Officer to manage the day-to-day financial operations of our growing polytechnic. This person must understand accounting for educational institutions, be comfortable with ERP implementation, and be able to do bookkeeping, budgeting, and reporting without hand-holding. You’ll be the one keeping our finances clean, compliant, and ready for growth.


Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Bookkeeping:

Maintain complete and accurate financial records: general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, student fees Handle tuition fee collection, receipts, reconciliation, and student ledger management Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with Nigerian accounting standards


Management Finance:

Prepare and monitor annual budgets for departments, projects, and the institution Track cash flow, manage bank accounts, and ensure proper fund allocation Support management with financial analysis for decision-making: cost of programs, viability of new courses, etc.


ERP & IT:

Lead implementation and daily operation of the college ERP/finance module Train staff on ERP use for fee collection, payroll, and procurement Ensure data integrity, backups, and proper access controls in the system


Compliance & Controls:

Ensure compliance with FIRS, TETFUND, JAMB/NBTE financial reporting where applicable Manage statutory deductions: PAYE, Pension, NHF, WHT Enforce internal controls, prevent leakages, and conduct periodic reconciliations Liaise with auditors, banks, and vendors Prepare reports for the Board/Proprietor and Management

Key Performance Indicators - KPIs

We’ll measure you on:

Financial Accuracy: Monthly books closed by the 5th of the following month with <1% reconciliation variance Cash Flow Management: 95% of expected tuition collected each semester, aged debt tracked ERP Adoption: 100% of fee collection and procurement processed through ERP within 3 months of resumption Compliance: Zero penalties on statutory remittances. All filings done on time Budget Adherence: Departmental spending within 5% variance of approved budget Audit Readiness: Clean external audit with no material findings

Education & Experience

Education: Minimum http://B.Sc/HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field. ACA/ACCA/CPA/ANAN in progress is a strong advantage Experience: 3-5 years post-NYSC experience, with at least 1-2 years in an educational institution, SME, or where ERP was used NYSC: Completed


What will make a candidate stand out:

Has set up or migrated a school to an ERP before Has worked with NBTE reporting templates Can work with limited resources and still keep controls tight


Skills & Competencies:

Core Accounting: Strong grasp of double-entry bookkeeping, financial reporting, cost accounting Education Sector Knowledge: Understanding of school fee structures, student billing, grant management ERP Proficiency: Hands-on experience with at least one ERP. Examples: Tally, QuickBooks, Sage, College ERP, or custom school management systems. Must be able to set up charts of accounts and run reports Tech Savvy: Advanced Excel, MS Office. Comfortable learning new software fast Analytical: Can spot variances, recommend cost savings, and explain numbers to non-finance people Integrity + Hands-on: This is not a "delegate everything" role. You will post entries, chase receipts, and fix ERP issues yourself.
