African Foundries Limited (AFL) was established to support the accelerating growth in Nigeria by making the country self-reliant for steel rebars and eliminating its dependence on imported rebars. AFL is set up to reach a 0.5 million-ton per year capacity for high strength rebars and allied products.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Assistant Human Resource Manager

Location: Ogijo, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations: Foster positive employee relationships, resolve conflicts, and promote a healthy work environment.
  • Recruitment and Selection: Oversee the recruitment process, conduct interviews, and ensure the best talent is hired.
  • Training and Development: Coordinate training sessions, workshops, and seminars to enhance employee skills and productivity.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to labor laws, safety standards, and industry regulations.
  • HR Operations: Maintain accurate employee records, manage employee benefits, and prepare HR reports.
  • Strategic Planning: Assist in developing HR strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Minimizes legal liabilities and reputational damage by ensuring contractors operate within legal and safety boundaries.
  • Guarantees that outsourced work meets the organization's standards and objectives.
  • Proactively identifying and managing potential issues, such as safety hazards, payment complications, or operational disruptions, to protect the organization's reputation and bottom line- must have his ears on ground to avert strike actions by contract workers.
  • Verifying contractors' credentials, payment of insurance to date. Ensuring contractors meet legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Fostering clear and effective communication between HoDs/ Shift -in- charge and contractors.

Performance Metrics

  • Employee satisfaction and engagement.
  • Time-to-hire and recruitment metrics.
  • Compliance with labor laws and regulations.
  • Training and development program effectiveness.
  • HR process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in human resources management, preferably in the steel industry.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proven experience in employee relations and conflict resolution.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
