Habanero Pepper Farm Attendant

Reporting Structure: Directly accountable to the Farm Manager or Field Supervisor

Position Overview:

We are seeking a diligent and proactive Habanero Pepper Farm Attendant to join our team. This role involves supporting the cultivation, maintenance, and harvesting of habanero peppers in open-field environments. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions. The attendant will contribute to overall field productivity and ensure that habanero crops are grown and harvested to meet the highest quality standards.

Core Duties:


Support the preparation of planting areas, soil enhancement, and transplantation of habanero seedlings
Ensure proper plant spacing, weed control, pruning, and staking of pepper plants
Observe plant health and alert supervisors to signs of pests, diseases, or nutrient deficiencies
Administer fertilizers, pesticides, and irrigation as instructed by the farm manager
Carefully hand-harvest mature habanero peppers, minimizing damage to plants and produce
Categorize, grade, and package harvested peppers according to established quality criteria
Uphold cleanliness and organization of tools, equipment, and field areas
Safely operate basic agricultural implements and machinery (e.g., hoes, hand sprayers, tillers)
Adhere to all farm safety protocols and hygiene practices, particularly when handling produce
Document daily activities and provide progress updates to the supervisor


Qualifications:


Prior experience in vegetable farming or horticulture is preferred, especially with pepper or similar crops
Capability to perform outdoor physical labor for extended periods, including bending, kneeling, and lifting
Fundamental understanding of crop care, pest management, and field irrigation systems
Keen attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
Willingness to work in hot, humid, and occasionally wet weather conditions


Work Environment:


Outdoor fieldwork exposed to direct sunlight, varying temperatures, and seasonal weather patterns
Work hours may fluctuate based on crop cycles and weather, with increased hours during peak harvest periods
Tasks involve repetitive motions and prolonged periods of standing or bending
