Job Description
The Project Planner is responsible for developing, monitoring, and maintaining project schedules, resource plans, and progress reports to ensure timely and cost-effective execution of oil and gas projects.
The role ensures alignment between engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, providing accurate forecasting, analysis, and reporting to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, update, and maintain detailed project schedules (using Primavera P6/MS Project or equivalent).
Work with project managers and discipline leads to define work breakdown structures (WBS) and establish baselines.
Track progress against schedules, highlight variances, and recommend corrective actions.
Prepare resource loading plans and forecasts for manpower, equipment, and materials.
Support cost control by integrating schedules with budgets and monitoring earned value performance.
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project milestones are realistic and achievable.
Generate weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and presentations for management and clients.
Identify risks, delays, and opportunities; propose mitigation strategies.
Ensure planning processes comply with company procedures, industry standards, and client requirements.
Participate in project meetings, providing input on planning and scheduling matters.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline.
Master's Degree in Engineering, Project Management or any relevant field is an added advantage.
Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in project planning/scheduling within the oil and gas industry.
PMP, APM, PRINCE2®, or equivalent Project Management Certification.
Strong knowledge of project management principles (WBS, critical path analysis, earned value management).
Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) projects is highly desirable.
Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and HSE requirements.
