 Job Title: Accountant

Location: Abuja Role Summary

The Accountant will be responsible for overseeing and managing the full spectrum of accounting and financial reporting activities across all business units. The role requires strong technical accounting expertise, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to handle multi-entity financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting to support strategic decision-making.


Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting:

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for all business units Consolidate financial reports across multiple entities Ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations Maintain proper books of accounts for all divisions


Project & Construction Accounting:

Manage project costing, budgeting, and work-in-progress (WIP) reporting for construction and real estate projects Track project expenditures against approved budgets Support project managers with financial analysis and cost control


Agribusiness & Food Processing Accounting:

Monitor farm operational costs, input usage, and yield-based financial tracking Manage cost of production for food processing activities Ensure accurate inventory valuation and stock reconciliation


Serviced Apartment & Hospitality Accounting:

Oversee revenue tracking, occupancy-based income reporting, and expense management Reconcile daily collections and payment channels Support pricing and profitability analysis


Budgeting & Forecasting:

Prepare annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis Recommend cost optimization strategies


Taxation & Compliance:

Ensure timely filing of all statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, WHT, Company Income Tax, etc.) Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements


Cash Flow & Treasury Management:

Monitor cash flow across all business units Manage bank reconciliations and liquidity planning Support funding and investment decision processes


Inventory & Asset Management:

Oversee inventory control systems for construction materials, farm produce, and processed goods Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules


Systems & Process Improvement:

Implement and maintain accounting systems (ERP or accounting software) Strengthen internal controls and financial processes Support automation and efficiency improvements in finance operations 


Success in the Role:

All financial reports are delivered accurately, consistently, and within agreed timelines Strong financial discipline is maintained across all business units Cost efficiencies are identified and implemented, improving overall profitability Minimal audit queries due to strong compliance and record accuracy Effective financial visibility enables leadership to make informed strategic decisions Strong internal controls reduce financial risks and leakages across operations

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Accuracy and timeliness of financial reports Budget adherence across business units Compliance with statutory requirements Efficiency in cash flow management Effectiveness of cost control measures Integrity of financial records and audits Reduction in financial discrepancies and reconciliation issues Improvement in overall profitability through cost optimization and financial efficiency.

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is highly preferred 5–8 years relevant accounting experience, preferably in multi-sector or group companies Strong knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting practices Experience in project accounting, real estate, or agribusiness is an added advantage

Strong analytical and numerical skills High attention to detail and accuracy Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities Strong communication and reporting skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple business units

Reporting Line

The Senior Accountant will report directly to the Managing Director, depending on the organizational structure.


Salary
