We are seeking a competent, detail-oriented Credit &Recovery Team Lead to join its team. The ideal candidate would be responsiblefor overseeing the Company's credit operations and recovery activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the credit and recovery team, ensuring effective loan processing and portfolio management, monitoring customer repayments, managing delinquent accounts, and implementing appropriate recovery strategies to minimize loan losses. The role requires a strong understanding of credit assessment, loan portfolio management, customer relationship management, collections and recovery, as well as the ability to lead and motivate a team.

The Key Requirements

Supervise the credit process from customer application and verification through approval, disbursement, and post-disbursement monitoring. Review customer credit assessments and ensure proper documentation and verification before loan approval. Ensure that credit decisions are made in line with the Company's lending policies and risk guidelines. Monitor the quality and performance of the loan portfolio. Identify potential credit risks and recommend appropriate actions to management. Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of customer credit records. Work closely with the Credit Sales Officers to ensure quality loan origination and responsible lending.

Oversee the Company's loan recovery and collections activities. Monitor overdue and delinquent accounts and ensure timely follow-up with customers. Develop and implement effective recovery strategies for outstanding loans. Supervise recovery officers and ensure that collection targets are achieved. Maintain regular contact with customers with outstanding obligations and negotiate appropriate repayment arrangements where necessary. Escalate difficult or high-risk accounts to management for appropriate action. Maintain accurate records of recovery activities, repayments and outstanding balances. Ensure recovery activities are conducted professionally and in accordance with Company policies.

Supervise, coach and motivate the Credit and Recovery team. Set performance targets and monitor team members' progress. Conduct regular reviews of team performance and provide feedback and guidance. Identify training and development needs within the team. Promote accountability, discipline and effective teamwork.

Prepare regular reports on loan disbursements, repayments, outstanding balances, delinquency and recoveries. Monitor key credit and recovery performance indicators. Provide management with timely updates on portfolio performance and significant credit risks. Analyze portfolio trends and recommend measures to improve repayment performance and reduce losses. Ensure proper reconciliation and accuracy of credit and recovery records.

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in credit, lending, collections or loan recovery, preferably within a microfinance institution, financial services company, fintech or similar environment. Previous experience supervising or leading a credit, collections or recovery team. Strong knowledge of credit assessment, loan monitoring and recovery processes. Good understanding of loan portfolio management and credit risk. Strong analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and customer management skills. Ability to work with targets and under pressure. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant financial/credit management tools.
