The Today For Tomorrow Initiative (TFT) is a youth-led non-governmental organization in Nigeria focused on adolescent and youth empowerment, health rights, climate action, and community development. Led by Executive Director Adek Bassey, it operates programs spanning digital skill acquisition, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and gender advocacy. We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Finance Officer
Location: Adamawa Key Roles and Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Budget Control: Oversee project financial planning, manage operational budgets, and track grant expenditures to prevent over-spending or under-utilization of grant funds. Transaction Management & Accounting: Execute and record day-to-day financial transactions in compliance with standard accounting principles and organizational policies. Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, complete, and properly approved financial records, ledgers, original receipts, payment vouchers, and supporting documentation for all grant expenses. Financial Reporting: Prepare and submit accurate monthly financial reports, budget variance analyses, and cash flow forecasts according to organizational and donor requirements. Internal Control Enforcer: Enforce internal financial control systems, policies, and ethical standards across all field activities, procurement steps, and staff disbursements. Cash Flow & Field Disbursement: Manage cash float, process vendor payments, oversee field allowance disbursements to CRCs and staff, and conduct petty cash reconciliations. Audit Readiness & Compliance: Organize financial documentation, maintain clear audit trails, and liaise with internal and external auditors during annual or project-specific financial audits.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Full or partial professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA) is highly preferred. Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years of finance and accounting experience, specifically within institutional donor-funded NGO projects. Financial Management: Demonstrated experience in grant budget management, expenditure tracking, financial reporting, and conducting variance analyses. Accounting Systems: High proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, financial modeling). Compliance & Audits: Deep understanding of internal financial control frameworks, donor compliance rules, taxation laws, and audit preparation procedures. Key Skills: High integrity, strong financial analysis skills, ability to manage cash floats and field disbursements under tight deadlines, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
