We are recruiting a detail-oriented and experienced Finance & Accounts Officer to support the financial operations of a leading laboratory services organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, ensuring statutory compliance, and supporting budgeting and financial planning. This role requires a finance professional with strong accounting knowledge, hands-on experience with QuickBooks, and the ability to provide accurate financial insights that support business decision-making. Ultimately, you will contribute to the organization's financial stability by ensuring sound financial management, regulatory compliance, and efficient accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate financial records by processing daily transactions, journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations. Process invoices, expense claims, receipts, and client billings while ensuring compliance with company policies. Monitor office expenses, company loans, investments, and financial commitments. Perform regular reconciliation of bank accounts, ledgers, and financial records to ensure data accuracy. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and Monthly Performance Reports (MPR). Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries and financial statement preparation. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support business planning and commercial bids. Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, including PAYE, VAT, WHT, CIT, and other regulatory requirements. Coordinate audit activities and maintain organized financial documentation for internal and external audits. Support payroll administration, statutory remittances, and regulatory reporting. Build and maintain effective relationships with vendors, suppliers, and other key stakeholders. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, financial policies, and relevant regulatory requirements. Perform other finance and accounting duties as assigned by Management.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. 5–7 years' experience in finance and accounting roles. Experience within a laboratory, healthcare, professional services, or related industry is an added advantage. Proficiency in QuickBooks is mandatory. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Solid understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, payroll administration, and statutory remittances. Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Professional certification such as ICAN or ACCA is an added advantage but not mandatory.
