Job Title: Senior Instrument Specialist / Mentor
Location: Lekki, Lagos

Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all instrumentation systems and equipment.
Lead and execute critical maintenance activities, including shutdowns, start-ups, and commissioning, ensuring adherence to safety and procedural standards.
Drive defect elimination through Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement reliability improvement strategies.
Mentor and coach junior technicians, providing structured On-the-Job Training (OJT) to enhance workforce capability.
Ensure strict compliance with safety regulations, operational procedures, and industry standards (ISA, IEC, API).
Collaborate with planning teams to develop technically sound and accurate work packs, ensuring correct sequencing and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
Maintain comprehensive documentation, including CMMS updates and technical records, for all maintenance activities.
Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on instrumentation systems, advising on best practices and technical solutions.
General Requirements
HND/B.Eng. in Instrumentation, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience in instrumentation maintenance within heavy industrial environments, specifically Oil & Gas, Refineries, GTL, Petrochemical, or Chemical Plants.
Extensive experience with complex, continuous process facilities and their associated instrumentation.
Strong hands-on experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), SCADA, field instrumentation, analyzers, and Emergency Shutdown/Fire & Gas (ESD/F&G) systems.
Proven track record in troubleshooting complex and recurring instrumentation failures.
Proficiency in calibration, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various field instruments (pressure, flow, level, temperature, analyzers).
Experience with control valves, loop checks, functional testing, and basic DCS/PLC interaction.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and datasheets effectively.
Possession of relevant safety certifications such as HSE, PTW, LOTO, and CompEx.
Professional certifications like ISA CCST or OEM certifications (Emerson, Yokogawa, Honeywell, Siemens) are highly preferred.
