We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Engineer to maintain, optimize, and extend our existing core APIs (Ledger, Acquiring, Payouts, Identity). As a distributed systems expert and database optimization veteran, your primary goal will be ensuring zero-downtime, idempotency, and scaling the database architecture for massive launches. You will touch the actual money flows; compromising on experience and reliability is not an option. You will also be responsible for adding robust edge-case routing logic for existing payment methods.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

Architect, maintain, and optimize core backend APIs handling Ledgers, Acquiring, Payouts, and Identity Ensure high availability and zero-downtime across critical financial systems Scale and optimize database architecture to support significant transaction volumes and product launches Design and implement bulletproof idempotency mechanisms for money flows Develop complex routing logic for payment methods to seamlessly handle edge cases Lead technical direction and mentor senior  engineers within the Core Systems team Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional technical teams to support mission-critical payment infrastructure.

Required competency and skillset to be a waver

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. 8-10 years of backend software engineering experience, specifically dealing with financial systems, ledgers, or payment gateways Expert-level knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architecture Veteran-level experience in database optimization, query performance tuning, and schema design at scale Deep understanding of transaction management, idempotency, and data integrity Proven ability to deliver complex infrastructure projects with zero-downtime requirements Exceptional problem-solving skills and a strong commitment to system reliability and security.
