Job Title: Senior Rotating Equipment Specialist/Mentor
Location: Offshore, Nigeria
Employment Type: Contract Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, commissioning, and reliability improvement of rotating equipment. Lead and support critical maintenance activities, shutdowns, turnarounds, and commissioning activities. Drive equipment reliability improvement through Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), and predictive and preventive maintenance strategies. Mentor and coach technicians through structured On-the-Job Training (OJT) and competency development programs. Provide technical guidance on maintenance best practices, precision maintenance, and equipment reliability. Promote a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence by leading by example. Interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), mechanical drawings, OEM manuals, engineering specifications, and technical datasheets to support maintenance planning and execution. Perform advanced troubleshooting of complex mechanical faults and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Analyze equipment performance, vibration data, lubrication reports, and condition monitoring data to improve equipment availability and reliability. Ensure compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lock-out/Tag-out (LOTO), Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (JSA), and all applicable HSE requirements. Ensure maintenance activities comply with relevant API, ISO, ANSI, OEM, and other applicable industry standards. Coordinate multidisciplinary teams by providing clear technical guidance, accurate maintenance reporting, and effective communication.
General Requirements
Minimum 15 years of hands-on experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability of rotating equipment, with over 10 years of EGTL Plant Rotating Equipment experience considered in lieu of certification. Proven experience in heavy industrial environments, including Oil & Gas production and processing facilities (onshore/offshore), refineries, petrochemical, chemical processing, and Gas to Liquid (GTL) plants. Extensive field exposure to maintenance execution, shutdowns/turnarounds, and commissioning activities. Expert-level knowledge of centrifugal, screw, and reciprocating compressors; steam and gas turbines; pumps; gearboxes; and fans/blowers. Strong proficiency in equipment alignment, precision maintenance, vibration analysis, lubrication systems, and mechanical seals. Ability to interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, OEM manuals, and engineering specifications. Solid understanding of reliability principles (RCFA, FMEA, RCM) and predictive/preventive maintenance strategies. Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, or leading technicians in a worksite setting, including developing and delivering on-the-job training (OJT). Strong commitment to HSE standards, Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems, LOTO procedures, and hazard identification. Advanced troubleshooting skills and capability to perform root cause failure analysis (RCFA).
