Job Description
The Ambulance/Hospital Driver will be responsible for operating hospital vehicles safely while ensuring patients, staff, medical equipment, and supplies reach their destinations promptly.
This role demands a high level of responsibility because transportation within the healthcare system often involves emergency situations where every minute counts.
Applicants should be disciplined, safety-conscious, punctual, and capable of maintaining professionalism under challenging conditions.
Key ResponsibilitiesSuccessful candidates will be expected to carry out the following responsibilities:
Transport hospital staff to assigned locations when necessary.
Drive ambulances and other hospital vehicles safely.
Transport medical equipment and essential hospital supplies.
Ensure vehicles remain clean and presentable at all times.
Monitor fuel levels and arrange timely refuelling.
Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after trips.
Report mechanical faults promptly for repairs.
Assist medical personnel during patient transportation whenever required.
Ensure patients are transported safely and comfortably.
Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations.
Maintain accurate vehicle movement records when required.
Respond professionally during emergency situations.
Protect hospital property while carrying out official duties.
RequirementsValid Driver’s Licence:
Candidates must possess a valid driver’s licence. This is a mandatory requirement for the position.
Driving Experience:Applicants should have proven experience operating vehicles safely and responsibly.
Previous experience driving ambulances or hospital vehicles will be considered an added advantage.
Good Knowledge of Road Networks
Applicants should possess a strong understanding of roads within Port Harcourt and surrounding areas.
Knowledge of alternative routes can be beneficial during emergencies or traffic congestion.
