Job Title: Resident Manager

Acting as Resident Warden and community-builder in a male student hostel. Overseeing the health, safety, hygiene, and general welfare of the residency. Ensuring student adherence to rules and maintaining decorum. Supervising facility operations, upgrades, and furniture/fittings management. Managing personnel and ensuring ancillary activities comply with standards. Handling misconduct, disciplinary issues, and emergency health matters. Performing administrative duties such as reporting, documentation, tenancy processing, inspections, and safety checks. Representing management in meetings, handling breaches of agreement, and overseeing lettings and tenancy agreements. Ensuring electrical/mechanical systems are maintained and inspected. Building and nurturing a professional, supportive, and accountable environment for students and vendors alike. This role requires a blend of approachability, authority, confidentiality, and effective communication, along with the ability to manage teams, understand health and safety standards, and possess strong administrative and computer skills.
HND or B.Sc. Degree in Estate Management, Facility Management, Property Management, Hospitality Management, Business Administration or a related discipline. Minimum 5 years' relevant experience, preferably managing a large residential facility, student hostel, estate, university accommodation or similar property. Proven experience in facility maintenance, vendor/contractor management, resident/customer management and staff supervision.
The role of Warden is a challenging position and requires a fine balance between enforcing discipline and supporting and bonding with students and vendors. Wardens must be approachable and available to all students. Wardens must be able to respect confidentiality. Be empathetic and patient. Wardens must be proactive and take personal responsibility, have the ability to go beyond the call of duty. They should have a basic knowledge of health and safety practices and be open to learning new skills. Ability to work in a team, motivate, supervise and develop vendors to deliver target outcomes. Very good communication skills. Basic computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Good writing skills to capture data, manage budgets, collect feedback, design reports and conduct surveys.
