We are  recruiting to fill the position below:

 Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Ikeja, Lagos 

Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for maintaining the mechanical integrity, operational efficiency, and safety of all manufacturing equipment, packaging lines, and plant utilities across the pharmaceutical facility This role ensures that all mechanical systems operate in full compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), NAFDAC regulatory guidelines, and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)


Key Responsibilities
Machinery Maintenance & Operations:

Execute scheduled Preventive Maintenance (PM) and rapid troubleshooting/repair for processing machinery, including: High-shear granulators, Fluid Bed Dryers (FBD), Rapid Mixer Granulators (RMG), tablet compression machines, and coating pans. Blister packing machines, liquid filling/capping machines, sachet machines, and strip packagers. Lead mechanical setups, tool/die changes, and mechanical adjustments during production batch changeovers to ensure zero damage and minimal downtime.

 Engineering & Projects:

Support the execution of engineering projects, equipment installations, and facility upgrades. Participate in qualification and validation activities for new equipment and systems. Assist in monitoring engineering budgets, spare parts inventory, and maintenance costs. Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities, equipment history, and engineering records.


Compliance & Safety:

Ensure compliance with GMP, SOPs, safety regulations, and pharmaceutical industry standards. Support audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities. Promote workplace safety and ensure adherence to HSE policies and procedures. Ensure calibration and maintenance activities are carried out according to approved schedules.


Utilities & Facilities Management:

Oversee the maintenance of utility systems including HVAC, boilers, generators, compressors, purified water systems, and electrical installations. Ensure uninterrupted utility supply to support production operations. Monitor facility conditions and coordinate repairs when necessary.


Utility & HVAC Management:

Maintain Air Handling Units (AHUs), HEPA filtration systems, and ducting to preserve pressure cascades and environmental controls required for cleanrooms. Oversee the operation, servicing, and pressure-testing of plant utilities:

Industrial boilers and steam distribution systems. Oil-free air compressors and pneumatic supply networks. Chillers, cooling towers, and water generation/distribution plants (Purified Water / Water for Injection). Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) and water recycling systems.

Compliance, Safety & Documentation:

Ensure all mechanical repairs, modifications, and lubrications use food/pharma-grade materials (e.g., NSF/H1 lubricants) and comply with sanitary standards. Maintain audit-ready engineering logbooks, equipment maintenance history cards, Equipment Qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) records, and change control documentation. Enforce safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), pressure vessel safety, hot work permits, and factory floor health and safety regulations.

Job Specifications & Qualifications


Required Education & Experience:

B.Sc. or HND in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution. COREN registration or NSE membership is an added advantage.


Experience:

3 to 8 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing, FMCG, or food processing environment. Proven experience working with high-speed automated packaging and tableting machinery.


Key Technical & Functional Skills:

Strong command of pneumatic circuits, valves, cylinders, and hydraulic actuators. In-depth knowledge of industrial steam systems, air compressors, and HVAC/AHU setups. Ability to read and interpret mechanical fabrication drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), and assembly schematics. Practical experience with pharmaceutical equipment will added more advantage.
