WDCL is the sole representative of various overseas companies in the fields of Information Technology, Telecommunications, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical/Electronic Engineering. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: NDT Inspector

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Employment Type: Contract

Function: Non-Destructive Testing and Weld Quality

Reports to: NDT Level III / QA/QC Engineer

Supervises: NDT technicians, where authorised Role Purpose

Perform, witness, and review non-destructive testing of welds, materials, and equipment, ensuring methods, personnel, procedures, equipment, interpretation, and records meet the approved code and project acceptance criteria.


Key Responsibilities

Review NDT procedures, technique sheets, examination coverage, acceptance criteria, drawings, weld maps, and inspection requests before testing. Verify technician certification, visual acuity, method authorisation, equipment calibration, reference standards, consumables, and environmental conditions. Perform or witness VT, PT, MT, UT and radiographic-film interpretation within certified competence and employer authorisation. Confirm surface condition, examination stage, identification, orientation, datum, scanning pattern, sensitivity, coverage, and traceability. Interpret indications accurately, distinguish relevant from non-relevant responses, and evaluate results against the specified code. Issue clear NDT reports with weld/component identity, method, equipment, calibration, coverage, indication details, disposition, and examiner approval. Maintain weld/NDT status, repair-cycle traceability, rejection trends, and release status so unaccepted work is not coated, tested, or concealed. Monitor radiation-safety interfaces for radiography and coordinate exclusion zones and permits with the authorised radiation team. Escalate ambiguous, significant, recurring, or out-of-scope indications to the responsible Level III and support root-cause and repair verification.

Key Performance Measures

Reports issued accurately and on schedule. Source-to-dashboard reconciliation and data completeness. Actionable trends identified before major impact. Reduction in manual reporting effort and duplicate data. Stakeholder use and acceptance of quality insights. NDT completed within inspection schedule. Reports accepted without traceability or interpretation errors. No unauthorised release of rejected or unexamined work. Repair and rejection trends reported promptly. Calibration and personnel certification maintained without lapse.

Qualifications and Experience


Minimum Requirements:

Technical diploma/HND or bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials, Welding, or a related technical discipline. Typically 5 or more years of industrial NDT experience on welds, piping, pipelines, tanks, structures, or pressure equipment. Current employer authorisation and documented experience for each method performed or interpreted. Ability to read weld maps, isometrics, drawings, NDT procedures, and code acceptance criteria. Strong attention to indication evaluation, report accuracy, and traceability.


Preferred Certifications and Standards Knowledge:

ASNT SNT-TC-1A, ASNT CP-189, ISO 9712, or equivalent Level II certification in the required methods. Radiographic-film interpretation certification/authorisation where film review is part of the role. Knowledge of ASME Section V/IX, ASME B31 series, AWS D1.1, API 650/653/570, ASTM E165/E709, and project-specific acceptance criteria as applicable.


Core Competencies:

NDT method execution and interpretation. Procedure and calibration compliance. Indication evaluation and code acceptance. Weld-status and repair-cycle traceability. Radiation-safety interface awareness.

Reporting and Interfaces 

Internal interfaces: Welding, QC, construction, pipeline/tank inspection, materials, HSE, and document control teams. External interfaces: Client inspectors, NDT contractors, laboratories, radiation-safety personnel, and Level III authorities.
