Job Title: UI Developer
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time (Hybrid — 3 days in-office, 2 days remote)
Department: Engineering & Product Design
Reports To: Frontend Team Lead / Head of Design Engineering About the Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented UI Developer to bridge the gap between design and engineering — turning wireframes, mockups, and design systems into pixel-perfect, responsive, and accessible user interfaces. You'll work closely with UI/UX designers, product managers, and backend developers to bring products to life on the web and mobile, with a sharp focus on visual precision, interactivity, and user experience. This role is ideal for someone who is as passionate about clean, semantic code as they are about visual craftsmanship — someone who obsesses over spacing, animation, responsiveness, and the small details that make an interface feel great to use.
Translate Figma/Adobe XD/Sketch designs into high-fidelity, responsive HTML, CSS, and JavaScript interfaces Build and maintain reusable UI components and design systems/component libraries Ensure pixel-perfect implementation across breakpoints (mobile, tablet, desktop) Implement smooth animations, transitions, and micro-interactions that enhance usability Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers to review designs for feasibility and suggest improvements Work with frontend/backend developers to integrate UI components with application logic and APIs Ensure cross-browser compatibility and consistent rendering across devices Optimize UI performance (asset loading, rendering speed, lazy loading, etc.) Conduct accessibility audits and implement WCAG-compliant, screen-reader-friendly interfaces Maintain and evolve a shared style guide/design token system (colors, typography, spacing, components) Participate in code reviews focused on UI quality, consistency, and maintainability Conduct visual QA before releases to catch inconsistencies and rendering bugs Stay current with UI trends, browser capabilities, and frontend tooling
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Design, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience) 2–4 years of experience specifically in UI/frontend development Expert-level HTML5 and CSS3 (Flexbox, Grid, animations, responsive design) Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) Hands-on experience with a modern frontend framework/library: React, Vue, or Angular Experience with CSS preprocessors/tools: Sass/SCSS, Tailwind CSS, or Styled Components Strong eye for visual design — spacing, typography, color theory, and layout composition Proficiency with design tools: Figma (preferred), Adobe XD, or Sketch — able to inspect and extract design specs Experience building and maintaining component libraries / design systems (e.g., Storybook) Understanding of responsive and mobile-first design principles Familiarity with version control (Git/GitHub/GitLab) Basic understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for visual inconsistencies
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Qualifications:
Experience with animation libraries (Framer Motion, GSAP, Lottie) Familiarity with TypeScript Experience with CSS-in-JS or utility-first frameworks at scale Basic understanding of UX principles and user research methods Experience working within a formal Design System (Atomic Design methodology) Exposure to mobile UI development (React Native, or native iOS/Android UI) Experience with visual regression testing tools (Chromatic, Percy) Portfolio showcasing strong before/after design-to-code translation
Technica: HTML/CSS/JS, responsive design, component-driven development, animation, accessibility | Design Tools: Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Zeplin | Frameworks/Libraries: React/Vue/Angular, Tailwind/Sass, Storybook | Soft Skills: Visual attention to detail, collaboration with designers, communication, time management | Methodology: Agile/Scrum, Design Systems thinking, Mobile-first development |
What We're Looking For (Beyond the Checklist):
A strong portfolio or GitHub showing real UI work — not just functional code, but visually polished interfaces Someone who can spot a 2px misalignment without being told A collaborative mindset — you'll work as the critical link between design and engineering Curiosity about how design decisions affect user behavior and product feel
What We Offer
Salary Range: N150,000 – N200,000 net monthly (commensurate with experience) + benefits. Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) coverage for you (and optionally dependents) Pension contribution as per Nigerian labor law Hybrid work flexibility Learning & development budget (courses, design/frontend conferences, Figma/tooling subscriptions) Modern equipment (laptop + external monitor provided) Performance-based bonuses and salary reviews A design-forward, quality-obsessed engineering culture Opportunity to shape the design system of a growing product Paid annual leave + public holidays.
